In 1969 Antonio produced and directed one of his masterpieces: "The Unnaturals" ("Contronatura" in the Italian version), an anomalistic movie very difficult to collocate in a specific genre.  The film is at least "claustrophobic", entirely done in an old mansion where the characters participates on a spiritualist séance, while outside there is a furious storm. Also in this Antonio's film, the characters are all negatives, guilty of different crimes or other sins. The film was rated R18, for the hard sequences of lesbian's love who's fill the film paralleling to the macabre spiritualist séance, and the flashback of the crimes committed by the characters.

Even this opera by Antonio Margheriti it's considered a masterpiece, together with "Castle of Blood"

Curiosity

This film was also the first one produced by Antonio Margheriti with his Company "Edo Cinematografica",  whit the same company, the following year he will produce and direct "Mr. Super Invisibile". This strange film for the period was shot in the Tirrenia Studios and in Berlin (Germany).

An 100% Anthony M. Dawson film, written, produced and directed by him.

Famous is an anecdote he often use to recall and tells: "I've had an idea for a beautiful sequence, and I want that during the spiritualist séance, the Camera will shot from above the circle made by the hands of the actors seat on the table, like in the 50's musical film were the dancers was seen from the top. Then I would like that the camera turn and move down to the center of the table and tilt up to make the close up of all the characters... But the budget was very tight and we had no money to rent a crane, which anyway was too big for the room. I sadly talk about to the DoP, Riccardo Pallottini, which surprise me answer: "There's no problem... we can do it"... Well, it was incredible: Riccardo was tided with a rope to his feet and pull up to the ceiling whit his head down. With the camera in his hand he was descending to the center of the table rotating on himself, and at the end he move up by strength and make the close-up. He gave me exactly the effect I wanted.

At that time we do not even dream about the technical equipment we can have today, but we had an incredible fantasy and willing to make good shoots. Something like that today will be unbelievable, nobody will ever do it, not even for a lot of money".
