Fourth and last film of the series "Gamma One". This time a big portion of the film it's located on Earth, in a meteorological laboratory based in the eternal Himalayan ice, which comes attacked and destroyed by some aliens: the Aytians, gigantic creatures half human half animals, probably the real reasons of the many legends on the "Yeti, the abominable snow man".  After this beginning the films will grow similar to the others, with space travels and interplanetary battles. The tentative of mutating the climatic conditions of our planet to adapting for the life of the invaders, will be a theme used many times after this film in the Science Fiction genre. There is also a precognition of Antonio Margheriti, with the global warming and the melting of the poles ice, causing the consequential catastrophic reaction of the planet.

Story

A meteorological station on the Himalayan ice land, it's been mysteriously attacked and destroyed. The authority ask the commander Jackson to inquire on the tragedy. In the meantime some other meteorological phenomenon happens. The ice of the pole are melting and the sea level is dangerously increasing. Jackson, reach the area where the meteorological station as been attacked and discover the existence of the Aytians, half men half beasts coming from another planet. After a furious battle, Jackson manage to defeat the invaders and destroy their base. This firs victory doesn't stop the natural calamities and some scientists discover the source of the mysterious energy, who is attacking the Earth, in one of the satellites of Jupiter.  Jackson travel to the satellite together with some spaceships. But the planet his defended by a radiation shield and their weapon seems useless. With a maneuvers full of risk, Jackson deviate from their trajectories a group of asteroids and make it collide to the planet, destroying it. 

Curiosity

Between the four film of the "Quadrilogy Gamma One", this was the film less liked by Antonio Margheriti. I believe that most of the shooting was done by his assistant director, Ruggero Deodato, while Antonio was busy preparing another film. 

Of the four Sci-fi pictures he made for Metro Goldwin Mayer, his favorite remains the first one "Wild, Wild Planet" where he put more care and enthusiasm, making  it surely the best among the others.
