|
Mirra,
a beautiful young girl made orphan by the Assiri, is conduct to Ninive beside the court of
King Sardanapalo. There begins the love between the girl and Shammash, brother of the king. But an inflamed
passion and jealousy binds the king at the woman. The King appoints the brother to the throne of Babilonia, which will
be also of Mirra. Before leave Ninive, Mirra offers herself to Sardanapalo.
The king accepts a kiss and a dance. Shammash shouts to the betrayal. Taken possession of the kingdom
given by Sardanapalo, Shammash decides to conquer the independence for his city.
Is on his side the perfidious Arbace, which in the reality hates the two brothers. Shammash
will be assassinated by Arbace. Mirra runs to Ninive invoking the help of Sardanapalo. The king after a first defeat from
the rebels, he curse against the Gods and restarted the attack. The
babilonians of Arbace are defeated, but the divine anger arrive on Ninive. Sardanapalo and Mirra die together.
