I've strongly wanted to realize this website to pay a deserved homage to Antonio Margheriti, my father. The man who taught me all that I know of the movie business, how to make a film in each of its phases, and how to survive in the business, helping me in growing professionally and passing on to me his huge technical experience and his artistic imprint. A
website dedicated to a simple, modest and honest film maker. A
director that has given a lot to the Italian Film Industry and also to
the international one. Intrinsically involved in all the possible film genres and
offering the great good of his professionalism in each one. With more
than
sixty films realized in forty years of an industrious and incredible career, Antonio
Margheriti, better known by the pseudonym of Anthony M. Dawson, which
he used as his film signature for almost all of his productions, has devoted his complete
life to a passion bigger than any other thing... the movies.
The movies made his way, with his child like and enthusiastic visions
that has rendered some his films as real real cult favorites of the "movie genre"
or “B-movies” as many critics have called. Margheriti
has left an indelible mark upon the Italian Film Production that goes
from the 1960's to the year 2000, with a personalized style which was font of
inspiration for many young directors, writers and critics, growing up with
his films in Italy and other countries. An "artisan" as he
would love to liken and characterize himself. A Director that wrote an important page in the history
of our movies, leaving a strong, inimitable and unforgettable imprint
for all time. With this small homage to his career, I wish to thank him for everything, and I hope that from up above he will approve, together with all of you, of the work undertaken in making this website a the tribute most deserving...
For my father... Antonio Margheriti
